This was not in her five-year plan. Then a chance encounter with gorgeous musician Danny leads to an unlikely friendship, and soon the pair are running music nights together in one of the oldest pubs in Dublin. For the first time Evelyn is following her dreams rather than someone else’s – and sparks are beginning to fly between her and Danny...But when her savings run out and home beckons, Evelyn has to choose. SHOSHANA HOLDS NOTHING BACK in this harrowing account of an ordinary woman caught in extraordinary circumstances. She reveals decisions made by chain of command that may have led to her twenty-two-day imprisonment, describes the pain of post-traumatic stress disorder, and shares the surprising story of how a specialist in a maintenance company ended up on the front lines of war. Told with exceptional bravery and candor, I’m Still Standing is at once a provocative look at the politics of war and the unforgettable story of a single mom and soldier who became an American hero. In March 2003, Operation Iraqi Freedom made world headlines when a U. S. army convoy was attacked en route to Baghdad. Shoshana Johnson became the first black female prisoner of war in United States history.

I'M STILL STANDING is the story of a man whose idea of duty put him in conflict with the powers that be, and how he endured the injustice of false charges and wrongful incarceration, turning bad providence into spiritual growth. Raymond Hicks writes candidly about the humiliation that he suffered as an upstanding young black officer who was wrongly accused by his coworkers-the anguish and financial ruin that he and his family experienced as he single-handedly attempted to fight corruption within the sheriff's department, as well as within the justice system which failed him. Hicks, a modern-day Serpico, reveals his story in hopes that no other dedicated individual will ever have to suffer through a "justice system gone mad." The purpose of this book is not just to restore justice, to "right the wrongs" visited upon Mr. Hicks, but to make everyone aware of the dangers we all face in a country riddled with corruption to such a degree that "honesty" is all but eliminated.

In I’m Still Standing, Mel Carnegie vividly recounts how she has fought adversity since childhood, beginning with the death of her father when she was just four years old and culminating with the discovery that her ten-year marriage had been nothing but a sham. She now believes that the man she called her soulmate was a sociopath.Sociopaths, or psychopaths as they are also known, live and breathe among us. They have no conscious. No empathy. No remorse. And there is no easy way to tell them apart from other people. Sociopaths are expert manipulators, and they are real – not just the fantasy of some Hollywood filmmaker. They look normal and they sound normal. Typically they come across as being charming, charismatic and the life and soul of the party. But underneath the mask they are nothing but predators, searching for people and situations that will give them their next ‘hit’ whatever that might be – money, status, sex, a façade of credibility… They see other people as nothing more than providers, who usually don’t notice what they’re doing until it’s too late. Leaving trails of chaos, confusion and destruction behind them, they’ll simply move straight on to their next willing target without even a backwards glance. When Mel discovered the truth about the man she called her soulmate, she pulled on all her life experiences to make sense of an unimaginable mess and fight her way back to life and to ultimate victory. Here she shares her journey with candid and often brutal honesty in the hope that she can help others recognise and escape the clutches of emotional abuse. This is her heart-rending and ultimately inspirational story.

Kerry Katona has been one of the most talked about celebrities of the last 12 years. Since bursting on the scene in 2000 with girl-band Atomic Kitten, her turbulent life has made her the subject of thousands of articles and numerous reality TV shows. Kerry released her first autobiography, TOO MUCH TOO YOUNG in 2006, but since then her life has become hardly recognisable, having taken many more twists and turns. This memoir will pick up from there and is, above all, a story of inspiration - from drugs, bad men, bankruptcy, armed robberies, embezzlement, plastic surgery, weight battles, booze, more drugs and depression - Kerry has survived and brought her life back from the brink to become a very together and happy mother of four. Now she has moved on, regained control of her life and tackled her problems head-on - becoming clean of drugs, getting back in shape, escaping her marriage and falling in love again. This is the remarkable, and at times heartbreaking, story behind how she did it.

"Following the 2009 release of her memoir, Scared Silent, Mildred Muhammad is back with the follow up to her story after breaking her silence about the domestic violence she suffered during her marriage to the executed D.C. Sniper, John Allen Muhammad. In her second memoir, I'm Still Standing, Mildred Muhammad picks up where she left off in her first memoir and tells about the compelling events that occurred during and after the conviction and execution of her former husband, John Allen Muhammad. We learn what was going through the minds of their three young children as they faced the reality that their father was going to be executed for his crimes in the October 2002 sniper killings that took place in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. Mildred Muhammad describes how she and her children overcame the difficulties they faced in the wake of the negative media attention and threats from people in her community who continued the victim-blaming.The victim-blaming caused her to turn to isolation as a way of protecting herself and her children, How did Mildred face those who continued to blame her for the crimes that John had committed? Gritty, raw, and emotional, Mildred Muhammad's story shows her triumph over the (external and internal) system that put her in a place of fear and isolation. Mildred Muhammad's story proves that because of her resilience, strength and having faith in God and her ability to maneuver through the process, she can say with confidence, I'm Still Standing! As an Author, Recognized Speaker, Domestic Abuse/Violence Awareness Advocate and Survivor, Mildred Muhammad has risen to become a voice for victims and survivors of domestic violence; especially for the 80% who do not have physical scars to prove they are victims."
